my fifth balloon

i tried to keep my balloon away from Dennis. Me and Bobby D. Chedwick played with it whenever Dennis was napping.

but then Dennis seen me play with it a few times, so we was more careful -- but Dennis watched and punctured it the first chance he got. it was the fifth balloon i got and the fifth one Dennis broke. i got no picture of Dennis with my balloon but i know he done it.

Oh, Edward. That is so sad. But it does sound a lot like Dennis, doesn't it?

That Dennis is a naughty boy. I think that when you get your sixth balloon, you should wait until Dennis shuts himself in the cupboard before you play with it.

What a wonderful photograph of you standing upright.

Such a long, lean body you have.

It's sad that Dennis has popped all of you balloons, Edward. Is he doing it out of spite? Or maybe he's just not as deft and careful with his claws as you and Chedwick are?

Perhaps when you get another balloon--soon, I hope--your humans can make a film of you playing with it.

Soldier on, Edward. There are worse things in this world than a popped balloon, buddy.

Still, you're young. I know it's the greatest tragedy of any childhood when a child loses a balloon. I recall crying and crying when I lost my beautiful rainbow balloon at the fair when I was a little girl.

I cried and cried despite my father's best efforts to convince me that now my balloon was free.

Look, he said. Look how beautiful and happy it was.

What can I say. I used to be a big cry baby.

Dennis says Eddy does cry a lot over those balloons--and Eddy has a real annoying cry, like WaaaH WaaaaaaaaHHH. Dennis was only poking them to see how they were made.

I'm sure you will forgive Dennis in time. That's what friends do.

That Dennis: he dance like a butterfly and sting like a bee.
Don't cry, Eddy. Next balloon? You break it first, that'll teach him.

Poor Edward! That was a little bit Bad of Dennis. If Dennis had recorded the results of his balloon-poking experiment in a lab notebook, he would not have had to keep repeating the experiment!

Hmmm, if it was Pearl (who lives here and is quite the diva) that would merit a real ear-boxing. But I don't want to give you any ideas.
